The Great Tic Tac Scandal
You are listening to the sermon from 06/04/17
Faith Wesleyan Church in Rockford IL.

Scripture texts: Matthew 5:4; Isaiah 5:20; Joshua 22:20; 2 Corinthians 7:10

Synopsis: Jesus is talking about a godly sorrow; a mourning over our own spiritual bankruptcy and our culture’s. There are 9 different Greek words used to speak of mourning in the New Testament. The Greek word for mourning used here in this verse is the very strongest. "Mourn," here is used as a present participle, making it continuous. Meaning we are to continually mourn over sin. Take note: Jesus is NOT saying, blessed are the grim, the perpetually down, the morose, the cheerless. We don’t need to look like we ate a box of prunes and are now in desperate need of an outhouse. What we should be mourning over is the lack of concern over sin in our culture, even in our churches.
