Faith Wesleyan Church in Rockford IL.
Synopsis: Mercy among the Jews signified 2 things. The 1st thing: The pardon of
injuries. The 2nd thing: Almsgiving, or giving to the needy. Our mercy needs to embody
both concepts. Forgiveness and generosity. Here’s some English for ya. Mercy is, A
willingness to forego the treatment someone deserves from us for what they did. Mercy
is compassion or pity. Mercy is forgiveness. Mercy is showing others the love God
showed to us. It is a verb. We are to be a conduit of God’s mercy. When we dispense
mercy, we become the hands of God. To be merciful is more than an obligation. Mercy
is to be shown with love and tenderness. We show it whether it’s asked for-- or not...
appreciated-- or not. We give it joyfully and without holding back.
